Over rolling hills and through meadows on a pretty good surface. It's THE road to take to avoid the motorway. Mostly open curves but with a couple of tight sections to keep you awake. Easy.

Attersee: a short stretch, but the east end is the best 5 miles around - makes your toes curl.

Up the hill from the lake and across an undulating plateau.The western end has more curves. Mainly medium/tight bits separated by straighter sections. Nothing very difficult and you can take it all at whatever speed that suits you.

The Hengstpass is a local biker's favourite, and one of mine. One set of twisties to the next in a narrow river gorge.I rode this road about four times before I noticed the cliffs. Narrow and some bumpy sections.

A main trunk road running alongside the river Enns. But because of this it's wide and ton-up corners. While you're doing this stretch take a short detour to do.....

A short-cut between the two main valleys here. A short section but the best for miles.

Gesäuse: runs through trees along side a white-water river. It used to be bumpy but has now been resurfaced. Sweepers, mostly and a few tighter bits.

Gschütt: One of my fave stretches. Starting from the lake, a twisty section each side of Gosau then to the top of the low pass - shortly after here you have the choice of the more rugged Lammertal to Bischofshofen, or south down to Annaberg.

Postalm: Another toll road, but it's cheap. This is not a scratchers' road as it's far too narrow and wooded, but it's worth it for the scenery and the beautiful countryside. Running across Austria's largest high alpine pastureland through dense woodland and open pastures. Watch out for cattle-grids and cows and horses running wild.

A gentle run through a few villages with varied bits in between along the river Steyr. The river passes througha narrow cleft, visible from an observation bridge. Easy
