Over the last few years, a number of hotels have got together in associations to offer more biker-oriented accomodation. Some offer a fully-equiped bike workshop, and nearly all are run by bikers and
offer tour suggestions and sometimes even offer led trips. All the ones I'm aware of are in and around Austria, Southern Germany and Northern Italy and the Dolomites.
I'm not aware of any in France or Switzerland. if you know of any please let us know.
The main ones I'm aware of are:
MoHo (Motorrad Hotels) - 17 hotels in Austria and South Tyrol
Alpen Motorrad Hotels - around 50 hotels around from the Allgau in southern Germany through the Tyrol to the Dolomites.
dolomiten-bike - around 50 hotels ranged around the Dolomites between Sillian and Meran.

The 2 French ladies that run the Hotel (and who spoke excellent English) spent about an hour phoning round Bike shops trying to find one that would recover the bike (not an easy task when they found the bike was 20km up a pass - a lot refused).
They were so helpful and we would have been really up the creek with out them.
The view from the room was great, the food excellent and they had a pool in which to relax those sore biking muscles as well! |
