Alpineroads.com-meeting 2007 "STELVIO"

Karza, Torque, Robin, Michael J, Mark, fahr_side, Chris N and Pingvin: Have a really great time and take lots of pictures with you and your bikes for us; and drink a lot of beers in the evening for us.

Above I have posted both my work and home e-mails, and I want to post my home phone number of 480-917-3863 and my work phone number of 602-254-1191x148. As soon as the dates for 2008, not necessarily any particular destination, is known to Alpine Roads Forum members please let AARG' - Arizona Alpine Riders Group know. This Winter if you were to tell us that the Alpine Roads meet is to be over the second weekend of July 2008, then we would contact Stefan Knopf of Knopf Motorradreisen in Heidelberg and reserve our bikes from a Wednesday to a Wednesday.

AARG' really wants to join you fine folks next year for the Alpine Roads meet. Just give us the dates as soon as you can and we would be happy with whatever destination that you pick to meet up at! Sincerely, Don

I leave tomorrow , wednesday .
an easy 600 km to Donaueschingen .
Thursday Livigno .
Which road I'll take depends on the weather .
For the moment it's raining in Belgium .
Webcam showed snow on the Stelvio , yesterday .
I hope the weather improves the next days .

Yeah, it's raining here in Switzerland right now. In an hour I have to go get new tires fitted. A wet ride there on slicks, and a wet ride back on greasy new rubber.
Fingers crossed it clears up soon.

Cheers Don, I'm sure we can manage all that for you.

The weather here is still pretty poor. Very damp, in fact.
However I see no snow on the Stelvio webcam today, so I'm going to go for it tomorrow despite the weather forecast. I reckon I should ride out of the rain.

Check out the webcam now. There's your snow!

Now at 16:00 the Stelvio, Glossglockner and Splugen are closed with snow. Oops. Hope our guys aren't caught out in that!

It's over.

About 2 dozen people were at dinner Friday night.

And I've finally got internet access (sniping bandwidth in Corvara)

This has been the high point of 5 trips to the Alps - no contest.

Karza says France next year.

I got back about two hours ago but decided to hit the beer garden before logging on 8)
I did come back over Umbrail and Ofen, which I failed to do last night because I couldn't be bothered to fill up. A fourth excellent day to add to the other three.
Really good to meet everyone in real life. Friday night was a good party, thanks to all for that (except Karza for those lemony thingies which were revolting and hurt even more the next morning).
Amazing that people came not only from the north of England and the north of Finland but from two other continents.
Pictures are up already?? I don't even know where my camera is right now but I'm about to hop over an look at those that are there now.
Cheers everyone and I hope you all get or got home safely, which I nearly didn't because my radiator started playing up again

It was really fun to meet all of you guys in Livigno. :D I guess the first AR-meet was a huge success, so we will continue in 2008, if Tim and Mark and others feel the same.

Riding together in Stelvio and other great places made us feel really that this bunch of guys from different countries almost all over the world are anyway one group with a great brotherhood and riding in Alpine roads is the main thing for us why we all are bikers. 8)

Dinners were also very fun, and the Limoncello parties, well.....

If other fellows agree, the date for 2008 AR-meet in France could be from 10th to 13th of July, like this year thursday-Sunday. I am still checking out the places, could be for example Barcelonnette or somewhere near that. www.barcelonnette.com

Comments please. :!:

My very best regards to all who joined us in Livigno :!: :!: :!:

Good choice for the base of Alpineroads.com-meet 2008 "BONETTE", would be this www.grandhotel-barcelonnette.com   Been there a few times: on the market square of the village(restaurant, bars, etc. very near), garages for bikes, very reasonable prices, friendly and very helpful(and very French) owner, great roads like:Bonette, C. De Vars, C. De Allos, C. De Cayolle, C.De Izoard, Gorges De Daluis, Gorges De Cians, etc. are all near.

There is also camping sites in B-nette, at least I know one: www.camping-rioclar.com  for those who would like to camp.
