This is just another way of making whatever happens in a collision our fault if we haven't jumped through every hoop.
We have lights on in daylight and reflective markings on jackets and they don't see us. So next up, Hi-viz. After a while that will become the norm and be part of the background visual noise, and they won't see us. Flashing Christmas tree lights anyone?

Right with you Pieman. It was the same with headlights on, now they make no perceptive difference especially now that half the car-driving population has taken to driving around with lights on all the time.

They'd have a much greater rate of accident reductions if they required every beginning driver to spend 1 year riding a motorcycle before being allowed to drive a car. Problem solved.

I already do a variation on that - headlight modulators. They work amazingly well.

Well, I disagree, it is easier to see vehicles when lights are on. And especially if low sun. (Maybe I've been brain wahed by Norewgain government :? )

But maybe you're point was that would be better if only bikes had lights on at daylight...guess it was you're point

I think the point is that its easier to see bikes if they stand out.
now that every new and chavs car has daytime lights, we are not noticable among all the others

I do think that being a motorcyclist and a car driver makes you better at both, giving you the understanding of how both use the road, sadly there seems to be an exception for London black taxi drivers. They spend months on step-thrus learning London streets but as soon as they have passed "the knowledge" (the exam for taxi drivers) they seem to forget all about anyone on 2 wheels.

Very funny. I'll just have the finger bit at the top.
This is bloody dangerous and must be stopped. For those UK members circulate it on Facebook and Twitter if you use them.

I guess we are mixing two disussions a bit:

1. Does White/hi viz/lights etc make you more visible (which I generally would say yes)
2. What should the goverment force us to wear/do

And I think it's the last one we more or less agree that we should be free to choose.
