Stelvio Pass open yet?

Conditions of passes and roads, as well as tolls and opening dates etc

I found the broadcast somewhat disapointing , even if a fellow countyman (and my nephew ) won the race .
They focused too much on the riders and hardly showed the surrounding landscape .
The Italians could learn a thing or two from the French , who when broadcasting the Tour de France take every opportunity to show the beauty of the countryside to promote tourism .

I agree, but most of the watching public is only interested in the riders/race and could care less about the backdrop.

We, however, are educated and know better :D

I watched it via streaming video, and watched as it went from semi-decent video with a few pauses to a series of stills with short moments of video with heavy compression artifacts as more watchers piled on the data stream. :(

I really shouldn't watch this stuff. I now feel that I should email Stefan and have him get my bike ready and start looking at airfares...

What I REALLY need to do is to check out the availability of military flights - virtually free, if I can get an open seat. Schedules need to be VERY flexible though.

Some of the money you save on the flight would cover any extra days in a hotel, I'm sure.

We had summer (30C) a couple of weeks ago, then a cold spell(8C), and now it is back around 20C but with heavy showers and very warm sunny spells in between. Which is actually pretty good as we need the rain, but hopefully it will be dryer soon.

Summer was 10 days in May. Still plenty of skiing on the glaciers. Hope we get another summer this year.
