Lots more here:
http://www.gs-enduro.de/
Go to "Passe", then "Slowenien" and get Google Earth happening...
There's loads of good info there. And if you don't mind some dirt roads...there are some gems there :D

Also "Passe", then "Friuli".
It's the main site I've been checking to put together the first part of our 2009 Alps trip.
Cheers

Connecting from Tolmin to Bled?

Postby Motorcycle Pete » Wed May 07, 2008 7:07 pm

I'm hoping to see some of this area this August. I don't really have a proper map of Slovenia yet, but, fiddling around with Google Earth, it looks like there is a possible loop?

I was thinking to cross over from Italy at Nova Gorica, then north.

East of Tolmin a short ways, it appears there is a paved? route over the mountains, via Grahovo, Bohinjska Bistrica, and Nomenj that continues on to Bled. Google identifies the roads as 403, 909, and 209, I think?

Has anyone been this way? gody? Tim? Anyone? From there I would loop back around over Vrsc pass and then back into Italy.

You wont have any serious problems with the road conditions in Slovenia. All roads around Bled, Tolmin, Bovec and the area of Soca (Vrsic, etc.) are nice for biking and have good surface. :D

I agree with Karza, the Slovenian roads are generally in pretty good nick.
If it looks ok on map it probably will be in reality as well. They drive pretty well, if a little aggressively, and prices are pretty low in most places for fuel and food.

Pete I went over the route via Grahovo etc last year and it was fine. A bit narrow in places and a few awkward bends, but you'll get thru, it might just take a bit longer than planned

Mangart is not a pass, you have to go back the same way you came...right :?:

Well you could take the express route   , and get to the bottom in less than a minute if you wanted.

To answer the question, yes one way up/down
