Tires from Italian Alps region

I know only one decent moto shop in Bolzano where I can find new tires and they change them also. Does anyone know other companies in the region of Italian Alps that you can recommend? Or in Austria near Italy....We stay in Hinterthal 2 days, then 5 days in Livigno and then 4 days in Arabba, and I guess that there will be in our group many bikes that needs to get new tires before our tour will be in the end...

I prefer Italy because the prices are much lower there than in Austria...

I paid for Pirelli Diablo in Austria 229 e and in Italy 180 e included all the work... ...rear tire...

Shops in Austria are ok if the price level is less than "official"...

Yes the motorbike garages are pretty expensive, so I get mine from a local general tyre dealer. So far I've delivered him the wheels myself and he's pretty cheap, but I think he'll remove/remount wheels as well for a price. [and he's a biker so no grease-monkey]
I dont know of any around Gosau/Hintertal, I'm afraid, but if you need any near Linz I can get you a few places.

A colleague suggested you consider ordering from the internet, eg www.reifenonline.at . If you know say 2 days before, order them online and get them delivered to the hotel or a local workshop. The prices'll be good but might be too much to organise when on the road.

Any places in K?rnten/Tirol/Steiermark area would be nice to know... Lienz could be nice also because of the location..

Reifen John are relatively cheap. You'll probably have to remove your own wheels, but I don't know for sure. Not near Liezen, but other places :

Last year one of us changed at a garage in Bolzano. Good and quick service (just turned up and they fixed it right away), not sure about the price.

Easy to find, just pass the Autozug terminal going east going under the railway/road in a right hander and it's right where you come out of the tunnel on your left hand:

Personally I have fresh tires and minimize unnecessary transport (straight roads) doing ferry/autozug so no worry about tires

Ok, thanks pingvin. In Bolzano we know already a good bike shop KP-racing. Local Suzuki-dealer(what else? ), I bought a new rear tire from him last summer. Very quick and good service. Not far from local Hein-gericke shop too.

This place in Schladming is a Cycle and Scooter shop but has a very good motorcycle mechanic. He doesn't stock tyres but will get them within 24 hours and he is very cheap by Austrian Standards. Just had a set of Anneke 2's fitted and they were 30% cheaper than Treffpunkt who quoted for Dunlop Trail Max.

There is also an Aprillia Dealer in Radstadt and I recall seeing a Suzuki Dealer just as you enter Saalfelden from Hintertal.

Got some fresh hoops in 2007 from this place: (Hermagor) and it looks like they're still around.
We gave them 2 days of warning and they got some extra stock in from Villach (it was late Sept/ end of season)

Has anyone used them (or another similar)?

My thought is to order a pair online and have them delivered to Stefan's in Heidelberg so that he can have them mounted and ready when I arrive. The present rubber is probably good for this coming July, but maybe not, and I think that I'd just rather start off with fresh and not have to worry about them.

Prices seem to be about 15% higher than here in the US for a pair of Metzeler Z6s - not overly nasty, in the grand scheme of things.

The chap who recommended that site has used them a number of times, often getting them to deliver to out office. He was happy with them, but I don't know if he's used them recently.

Thanks - my intent is to get the tires to Stefan about a month before I get there. Enough time to compensate for delivery and other issues, but (hopefully) not enough time to lose track of them
