Malware/Virus and error messages.

Postby tim » Fri Apr 06, 2012 11:10 am

Some of you may have noticed that we got hacked.
I think I have it sorted and it seems to be fine again. I will also update the forum software to the new version, so a few minutes offline is to be expected.
Please let me know if you think anything is odd/broken - apart from the Finnish sense of humour ;-)

I'm really sorry for any trouble, and hope no-one got infected. I think the hack was in fact harmless, as the forum software bombed before any links could be followed but if anyone is worried, I would recommend a virus and malware scan if you can.

sorry again.

Tim.

Well, looks like I didn't catch everything. The main site has been quarantined because of a virus, so please bear with me until this is sorted out.
Unfortunately it's a holiday weekend and I may not have too much time, I have to contact the domain provider.

Well that was a marathon session. The virus infected 15 other sites on the same server, and after a recovery session something reinfected it all.
Anyway, I think, hope, it's under control. I don't think any posts have been affected.
Thanks for your patience everybody, and a happy what's left of Easter.

Belated happy birthday to Mark.

Thanks Tim! I know what you went through, and its not fun. Wondering what's going to be left of the website when you finish makes it even worse. You did a great job!

Thanks for your support, I appreciate it.
Dead right though, it's the not knowing what will be left afterwards that is the worst.

Cheers for the hours of effectively rewardless (is that a word?) work, Tim.
Needless to say I didn't notice a thing as somebody decided to throw in a holiday weekend in honour of my birthday 8)

Thanks Tim for a great forum --- I hardly noticed the downtime.
Knowing how much a simple problem with my PC winds me up, I bet you had a stressed out Easter.
