Hairy Bikers in Austria

Postby ChrisN » Fri Apr 13, 2012 11:13 pm

Anyone see the latest installment of the Hairy Bikers Bakation this week.
They passed through Austria on their KTMs calling in at Tim's home town of Linz and baked the local cake; Linztorte.
More impressively they then rode up to the Bikers View Point on the Grossglockner on a clear-blue-sky day.
Not really interested in baking but they certainly seem to have fun.

For the "Where Am I ?" buffs; the bike photo is overlooking Zell Am See

Steve told me it was on, but iPlayer won't work here. maybe I'll find it on YooToob later.
Linzer Torte is very dry, it tastes nice enough but really needs a drink with it, as anything like custard is a no-no.

Saw that episode, same as me not much of a cookery buff but knew that they would be on the Grossglockner. They had a far better view then we were there in 2009 although a couple hundred meters down and we also had clear blue sky

Is this the male version of the old "Two Fat Ladies" show? I seem to recall that every one of their recipes contained, at some point, "gobs of butter"!

It's kind of similar but without the side-car! About the same amount of biking shown on screen. I'm not sure I'd eat what they bake as they're often shown kneeding dough whilst still wearing rings on fingers with dirty chewed off nails.

The funniest episode was least interesting biking-wise as they were in Holland. They met a crazy dutch baker who had an amphibious car and was planning to drive it across the English Channel. When asked what he'd do in the event of a problem, he pulled out a pair of inflatable shoes and said he'd walk back to the coast!

I don't think our fellow Europeans "get" custard. Tim, do you stock up when you visit the UK?

The closest thing to custard is "vanille sauce" which is runnier and not as yellow, but very similar. But they don't have it with many things, it's a bit exotic.

With Filming scedules being notoriously tight, & Call me cynical, but I wonder how much of the trip they actually rode their bikes on, and how much the bikes where trailered.
all the voices in my head are giving me a headache........................

Use a Proxy server and it will.

We use http://www.my-expat-network.co.uk/?gclid=CILCoJfIs68CFYcXzQodCjgxHA

Very stable and we can watch any British TV available through the computer.
