Transfăgărășan
that would be good, I reckon. Different culture as well and plenty of time to get there and back.

Austria, I'd expect, but Australia???

Yeah, I remember him at Livigno, that was Alan from Australia.
He didn't ride all the way though, he was on a rental.

Actually, I was on a rental that year, too.

As far as the toy box goes, it is MUCH cheaper to spend about €220 per YEAR to store my 19 year old bike than pay €100+ per DAY to rent one.

Plus, it opened up space in my garage for a possible Tiger Explorer later this year :D

If I do get it, I will have a single (the SRX), a twin (the VStrom) a triple (the Tiger) and a four (the GSX).

I'd buy a Gold Wing (6 cylinder), but I have no idea where to find a production 5 cylinder bike to fill the gap. The only one that comes to mind is the Megola.

Sounds like you already convinced yourself Michael, and what a smart move that would be.
Consider it sanctioned from the UK end

That makes me feel quite relieved.

I'd hate to have Britannia waive the rules.

I'd sit tight and don't exchange until the last minute.
The Euro may not be legal tender in 50 days time

Very funny.
Seriously, the cheapest way is to use your cashpoint card, as long as you don't have to pay huge bank fees for the transactions. Exchange rate for the day you withdraw.
What the exchange rate will be is anyone's guess, but the later you leave it the more chance there will be of the Euro dropping a bit after Greece has the new elections and whatever happens next.
That said, the pound isn't immune to the value of the Euro either.
