As i use Garmin (276C), MapSource is the natural choice.
I would like to find a sw that runs on my Nokia Series 60 phone, so could up/download data during a travel.

Garmin Mapsource Tim, because you can create waypoints and routes on the PC and transfer them to the GPS, and you can save the GPS trail or new waypoints back to the PC for later use.

I use PrymeNav. Works on a pda, laptop & smartphone.
But it's not listed, so I can't vote

Oops! It's not listed because I'd not heard of it. Don't worry, your vote is counted.

If you ever plan to publish any tracks / routes on this site, you may consider using Google Earth format (.kml/.kmz), to support wider user base.
MapSource format (.gdb) would be more convenient for many (most?) of us. But using the GE format, we all could have access to your tracks/routes with an application that is available for free.
Then again, GE is available for Windows PCs only. Well, everying has its other side...

Ok. I'm still in the "thinking about it and trying aout a few ideas" phase. If and when Google Maps gets it's act together with roads for mainland Europe htat' looks promising. GE is better, but you need a more modern PC than I have at home to run it :? I suppose most people would have something that would run GE. Converting from GPSr routes to GE can be done with GpsBabel, I think. I hope to provide at least selected "best of" routes in as many formats as is practical - and I have time for. Any suggestions welcome.

Like Martin I use Garmin. (I have a quest). I find it really useful to sit at the computer with a paper map in my hand, and pick out the roads I want. Then I can create a route using way points and simply send it to the GPS.

I wish.... If anybody knows a system that will import MS Autoroute, let me know.....

If I started again I'd run with a Garmin Quest II. Not the cheapest but at least you have the facility for desktop route planning, and it gives audio warnings for POI's, so you can load the speed camera database.

Jelster, I found this on a website somewhere about the Navman:
Q. How will you be able to import POI's, which format will they need to be in ?

A. Although we weren't shown the import process because it was a non-technical demonstration, we were told that this would be via CSV format so any POI's that are available for CoPilot Live and TomTom Navigator could be converted back to CSV format to be used with Navman's new V3 Software.

If that is the case, when I get the data sorted, I could concievably provide POIs/waypoints in CSV format.

speaking of software....
I found a guy in the UK who can unlock MapSource for different Garmin units... (he charges $20.00, which seems damn cheap). Yes, I know, not exactly fair, etc etc... but much better than spending $300-$400 for Map Source Europe.

Anyone interested, drop me a mail or PM and I'll give you his e-mail address.
